Oasis of the Seas which is the first in its class has won “Best Large Cruise Ship” for 2016 in this year’s Cruise Ship Awards by Cruise Hive readers.

Oasis of the Seas, one of the largest cruise ships in the world operated by Royal Caribbean came out on top out of another four large cruise ships. In nearby second was the Carnival Vista, the largest class ship in the Carnival fleet and in third was Norwegian Escape operated by Norwegian Cruise Line.

In fourth place came Anthem of the Seas, the second in the Quantum class of Royal Caribbean ships and finally in the fifth came the iconic Queen Mary by UK-based Cunard Line.

Awards

We randomly chose ships from some of the largest classes in the industry and the huge 225,282 gross ton vessel came out with the most amount of votes. Oasis of the Seas is the first in its class and at the time it entered service in 2009 was the world’s largest cruise ship. The vessel can 5,400 guests at double occupancy and over 1,180 feet in length, it really is a floating city.

The “Best Large Cruise Ship” category was one of the last to be added to this year’s Cruise Ship Awards. Each month we added new categories where readers were able to vote only once in each one. The Best Large Cruise Ship was only open in December 2016 and there were only two weeks to go until the results.

Oasis of the Seas is currently sailing out of Port Canaveral, Florida on Eastern And Western Caribbean itineraries.
