Top Cruises for Foodies

We all have our reasons for choosing to go on vacation and for choosing a particular destination spot or activity. For some of us, it’s all about the food! You’ve heard the old adage, “getting there is half the fun.”

Well, eating there is the other half! The fine dining that you will find aboard a luxury cruise liner rates among one of the best dining experiences you will ever have, if you know how to choose and what to look for.

All cruise dining is not created equal. Like many services that you encounter which have various levels of features, cruises are no different and the cuisine aboard different ships is likewise based on custom choices. So choose the foodie cruise ship that fits your tastes.

Dominating the top of the list of cruisers’ choice awards for best dining on board are five ships in the Celebrity Cruise Line. Holding the number one position for 2017 is the Celebrity Reflection.

There are seven dining room options included with your passage. Offerings range from traditional fare that can accommodate specific dietary restrictions, to intimate settings with exceptional food and service. Throughout the decks, there are grills, cafes and “spa-inspired” food.

Additionally, there are six for-a-fee restaurants on the Reflection offering foodie delights from burgers to elegant cuisine. The list of top foodie cruise ships also includes Celebrity Eclipse, Celebrity Equinox, Celebrity Silhouette and Celebrity Constellation.

Also holding strong on the list of best foodie cruises are two ships from Princess Cruises – Regal Princess and Grand Princess. Both are equipped with traditional grills, cafes, pastry shops, ice cream bars and several casual dining venues.

They also feature fee dining options with multi-course dinners, surf and/or turf themes, Italian cuisine and intimate settings.

Rounding out the list of favorite ships for cuisine is Norwegian Cruise Line’s Escape. The food aboard this ocean liner has been called “innovative” and “high quality.” The free dining has a ‘freestyle’ option – eat when you want rather than via reservations or set times.

Also, you can see the upscale influences of recent menu upgrades and exceptional service. The fee-based restaurants on the Escape are a delight; dinner shows, international steakhouses, specialty dessert shops, live music and international gourmet eateries. In addition to highly rated dining experiences, the bar and club options were a favorite among cruisers.

If you are what one might call a conservative diner, affectionately known as a picky eater, then you might want to consider these various options when booking a luxury cruise.

Be sure to find out if the traditional meals of hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, spaghetti or whatever your tastes require are available to you before you plan your trip. You crave a pleasant dining experience as much as the next guy. So if escargot is not your idea of that, then choose accordingly.
