The much anticipated dry dock of Queen Victoria has already started and Cunard has been keeping us all updated with time lapse highlights.
Cunard Line which is based in the UK and operates Queen Victoria has already posted two brief but pretty impressive time lapses. The cruise line has been open about the ship’s refurbishment which is currently taking place at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo, Sicily. We’ve been posting about all the enhancements and new features the ship is receiving over the past few months.
The first time lapse posted was when Queen Victoria arrived and entered the dry dock so the upgrade could begin:
The second time lapse the cruise line has posted to date shows a large aft lido block being attached to the vessel. This will be a new space for guests to enjoy and an extended lido deck experience:
Workers from the shipyard and contractors from around the globe will be working on the 90,000 gross ton vessel for a month. Highlights include a new Lido Sun Deck along with a stunning Winter Garden, new Britannia Club Staterooms, Britannia Club Restaurant, and five new luxurious Penthouse Suites.
Queen Victoria was taken out of service this month so the upgrades could take place. The ship is scheduled to resume service on June 4 with her first sailing out of Southampton, UK. the first voyage back where guests can enjoy the new enhancements for the very first time will be a 4-night itinerary with visits in Netherlands and Belgium.
