Carnival’s Newest Cruise Ship Delivered and Departing Shipyard

Carnival Horizon has been handed over from the Fincantieri shipyard to Carnival Cruise Line, a major milestone and the start of service for the newest Carnival cruise ship. A traditional ceremony was held at the Monfalcone shipyard in Italy on March 28.

Carnival Horizon Becomes 26th Ship in the Fleet

So Carnival Horizon is complete now that the cruise line has taken over responsibility after a ceremony held which was attended some key people. Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy and even Micky Arison were in the center of the major milestone. A handover ceremony was put on in the main theater lounge in the afternoon and the night before a show was put on by the entertainment staff.

Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, said:

“In addition to the many exciting innovations previously introduced on Carnival Vista, Carnival Horizon offers some new one-of-a-kind features and attractions that make this ship truly special allowing our guests to create a lifetime of wonderful vacation memories.”

What Now for Carnival’s Newest Ship?

Now that Carnival Horizon is delivered she will reposition to Barcelona for the maiden voyage from the Spanish port on April 2. earlier today water started filling up the dry dock where the Carnival Horizon was at the Monfalcone shipyard in Italy. The vessel is departing tonight local time with just crew onboard along with some special guests and possibly some shipyard workers doing some last minute things. The workers will often disembark when in Barcelona but will sometimes stay onboard longer which is common on new cruise ships.
