Diamond Princess has resumed cruises after completing a 14-day dry dock with new updates. The ship will return to Japan with a full year of cruise offerings.
Diamond Princess Completes Dry Dock
The Princess cruise ship underwent a major refurbishment at the shipyard in Singapore which included new upgrades. This is all part of Princess Cruises $450 million investment program across the fleet.
The iconic large movie screen known as “Movies Under the Stars” has been updated with new 7.1 surround sound digital audio. The pool deck now features a new LED lighting experience which can also complement the large screen.
The Casino has had some updates with new carpeting and a modern look with flat tv screens and lighting. The Spa and Fitness center has not missed out with enhanced treatment rooms and the latest fitness equipment.
Further general refurbishments were also completed aboard Diamond Princess, including upgraded digital audio system for the Princess Theatre, Explorers Lounge, and Club Fusion, as well as new furnishings in the Horizon Court.

Before the dry dock, Diamond Princess received product enhancements including that much-loved Luxury Bed added to every stateroom and a new wine list. There will be more new beverage menus rolled out to The Sanctuary, Pool Deck, Wheelhouse, Crooners, and Explorer’s Lounge throughout 2019.

The ship returned to service on February 2 after the dry dock in Singapore. She will return to Yokohama on February 14 for her 2019 Japan cruise season featuring 60 departures on 40 unique itineraries, visiting 41 destinations in seven countries.
Diamond Princess is a 114,000 gross ton vessel with a guest capacity of over 2,600. The ship joined the fleet in 2004 and was built in Japan.
