Royal Caribbean Reveals First Look at Odyssey of the Seas Features

Royal Caribbean has released a first look at features for the new Odyssey of the Seas cruise ship which will arrive in 2020.

It’s time to start getting excited for Odyssey of the Seas which is the second Quantum Ultra class cruise ship from Royal Caribbean. The new ship will kick of Caribbean cruises from November 2020 and will be the first in her class to be based from the U.S.

The cruise line has teased all the action-packed features that guests will be able to enjoy onboard. Highlights include a newly imagined Adventure Ocean for the kids, the next generation SeaPlex activity space, a new Teppanyaki restaurant and a lot more.

Here’s a brief rundown of all the features that Royal Caribbean teased for the new Odyssey of the Seas cruise ship. There are some new features along with expanded spaces already seen on sister ship Spectrum of the Seas.

  • SeaPlex – The largest indoor activity space at sea, where the whole crew can partake in pastimes together or solo. There will be full-sized sports court with the only bumper cars at sea or soar from a flying trapeze.
  • Clash for the Crystal City – SeaPlex will also double as a glow-in-the-dark laser tag arena, pitting Yetis and Snow Shifters against each other as they battle for survival and control of the mythical ice city.
  • Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade – Boasts a prime location within SeaPlex, with TVs at every angle to cheer on the home team. Offering club-level views of the competition below and onscreen, sports enthusiasts will catch every play on the court and back at home.
  • FlowRider – The popular surf simulator where guests can practice surfing those waves while at sea!
  • RipCord by iFly – Sky Diving simulator located at the aft of the ship provising an experience which guests will not forget.
  • SkyPad – Bungee trampoline experience that transports travelers to another time, place or planet using a VR headset.
  • Two open-air, resort-style pools and four whirlpools – The perfect place for relaxation surrounded by plenty of shady casitas and hammocks.
  • The Lime & Coconut – Serves up two stories of prime pool-front views and vacation-mode libations, keeping the island vibes going all day and into the night.
  • El Loco Fresh – Guests can enjoy grab-and-go, from tacos and burritos, to quesadillas and an array of fresh salsas.
  • Splashaway Bay – An aqua park that boasts colorful waterslides, fountains, water cannons and more.
  • Solarium – An exclusive space on the top deck, for some much needed “me time,” including swimming pools and whirlpools, a full-service bar, daybeds and hidden nooks for ultimate relaxation.
  • Two70 – Boasts 270-degree panoramic windows with sweeping ocean views from an expansive open area living room, which transforms in plain sight into a 135-foot-wide and 22-foot-tall screen, captivating onlookers into another world with its Vistarama technology. Will host breathtaking visual performances at night including roboscreens.
  • Music Hall – Always-changing set list of live performances with a dance floor.
  • Bionic Bar – Robotic bartenders will put together the perfect cocktail.
  • Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar – Royal Caribbean’s new take on its signature Italian trattoria.
  • Teppanyaki – The restaurant will serve authentic oriental flavors cooked in one of Japan’s traditional styles. 
  • Izumi – The perfect venue for sushi and sashimi.
  • Chop’s Grille – The place you need to be for hand-cut steaks.

These are just a handful of what will be featured on the large new cruise ship which is currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

The inaugural season will begin in November 2020 with Caribbean cruises out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She will sail 8- and 6-night itineraries including calls to Curaçao, Aruba, Grand Cayman and Mexico.

In May 2021 the vessel will be based out of Rome, Italy and will sail in Europe during the summer season, She will also be the first Quantum Ultra class ship to be based in Europe.
