Carnival Cruise Line has revealed the name for the second Excel-class cruise ship as Carnival Celebration, sister ship to Mardi Gras.

Carnival Celebration Name Revealed!

Carnival Cruise Line has finally revealed the name for its second Excel-class cruise ship after days of teases and hints. The ship will be named Carnival Celebration and she’ll be the sister ship to Mardi Gras which arrives in February 2021.

Many had been hoping the ship would be named Carnivale just like the former Carnivale vessel which was the sister ship to Mardi Gras and was in service for Carnival from 1975 to 1994.

Carnival Celebration will arrive in 2022 and coincide with the cruise line’s 50th birthday celebration. the name was revealed by Carnival partners as they unwrapped a box that each had a letter of the name. Those that unwrapped the boxed included Kathie Lee Gifford, Guy Fieri, and Shaquille O’Neal.

Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, said:

“The name Carnival Celebration couldn’t be more perfect for a ship that will be a key component of our 50th Birthday festivities.”

“Many thanks to our celebrity partners who helped us officially ‘unbox the fun’ and reveal the name of a ship that promises to be a spectacular addition to our fleet. Carnival Celebration is our 50th Birthday present to our guests!”

Those who know Carnival Cruise Line well will already know that the name is a throwback to the Celebration cruise ship which was a Holiday-class vessel for the cruise line. The ship was in service for Carnival from 1987 to 2014 and is currently still in service for Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line based out of West Palm Beach, Florida.

Carnival Celebration will debut in November 2022 in Miami in what will be a big year for the cruise line. The ship will be almost identical to Mardi Gras including the BOLT rollercoaster.
